About PennStations.com

PennStations.com is an independent travel and history guide dedicated to the five great stations of the Northeast Corridor that bear the Pennsylvania Railroad name: New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh.

Who Runs This Site

PennStations.com is written and maintained by a team of Northeast Corridor commuters and travel writers with decades of combined experience using these stations. We also previously operated InfoForNYC.com, which ranked on the first page of Google for “Penn Station schedule” for several years.

Every guide is based on firsthand experience. Every claim is either something we've verified in person or cross-checked against official sources (Amtrak, NJ Transit, MTA, SEPTA, MARC, and the Port Authority).

We built this site because navigating Penn Station — especially New York's multi-level maze beneath Madison Square Garden — is one of the most confusing experiences in American travel. Millions of visitors and commuters pass through these stations every year, and too many of them arrive with no idea where to go, which entrance to use, or that Moynihan Train Hall and Penn Station are two different buildings.

Our goal is simple: be the most useful, honest, and comprehensive resource for anyone visiting a Penn Station. We cover every entrance, every track, every transit connection, every food option, and every practical tip we can find — and we keep it updated.

Editorial Independence

PennStations.com is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected toAmtrak, NJ Transit, MTA, LIRR, SEPTA, MARC, PATH, or any other transit agency. This independence is intentional — it means we can be honest about what works and what doesn't at each station, without institutional pressure.

Our information comes from firsthand experience, official agency publications, and publicly available data. We link to official sources (schedules, real-time trackers, service alerts) rather than maintaining our own timetables, because the agencies will always have more current information than we can.

How We Make Money

PennStations.com is a free resource. We earn revenue through:

  • Affiliate links: When you click a link to a hotel booking site, luggage storage service, or other travel product and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no cost to you.
  • Display advertising: We may show ads from advertising networks on the site.

Our editorial content is never influenced by affiliate relationships. We recommend services because they're useful, not because they pay the highest commission. You can read our full Affiliate Disclosure for details.

Why “Penn Station”?

The Pennsylvania Railroad was once the largest railroad in the world, and it built monumental stations in every major city it served. The most famous — the original New York Penn Station, designed by McKim, Mead & White — was demolished in 1963, an act of architectural vandalism that launched the modern historic preservation movement.

Today, five stations still bear the Penn name (or its legacy). Each has its own character, its own challenges, and its own story. We believe those stories are worth telling, and that practical travel information doesn't have to be boring.
