New York Penn Station
Taxis & Rideshare
- ▶Yellow cab stand on 7th Avenue (33rd Street side) — metered fare, no surge pricing
- ▶Uber/Lyft pickup: 31st Street between 7th and 8th Avenues (designated rideshare zone)
- ▶During MSG events, the 7th Ave taxi line can be 20+ minutes — use the 8th Ave or 31st St exits instead
- ▶Typical fares from Penn Station: Midtown hotels $10–15, Lower Manhattan $20–30, JFK $55–75 (flat rate), LaGuardia $35–55
- ▶Avoid unlicensed car services soliciting inside the station — use official taxi stands or app-based rideshare
Buses
- ▶Port Authority Bus Terminal (42nd St & 8th Ave) — 8 blocks north via A/C/E subway or a 15-minute walk for NJ Transit buses, Greyhound, Peter Pan, and OurBus
- ▶M34-SBS Select Bus Service runs crosstown on 34th Street — connects Penn Station to the East Side, FDR Drive, and Javits Center

- ▶Consider: do you really need a car in Manhattan? Parking is $40–80/day. Transit + rideshare is usually cheaper and faster

- ▶Street parking is effectively impossible in this area — don't waste time looking
- ▶If driving to catch a train, consider parking at a suburban NJ Transit or LIRR station and riding in (much cheaper)
