Entrances

Raymond Plaza West (Main)

1 Raymond Plaza West, facing downtown Newark

Best for: All travelers — Amtrak, NJ Transit, PATH

Best-lit, busiest entrance. Closest to the taxi stand and rideshare pickup zone. Use this whenever possible, especially at night.

Market Street

Market Street, on the south side of the station

Best for: Quick access from Market Street and downtown destinations

Avoid late at night — the immediate area east of the station is less well-lit. Use Raymond Plaza West instead.

Raymond Boulevard / Ironbound side

Raymond Blvd, east side of station

Best for: Walking to/from the Ironbound District (Portuguese restaurants, Ferry Street)

Convenient if you're heading to Ironbound dining. Decent lighting and pedestrian activity in the evenings.

Platforms & Tracks

Newark Penn has 6 platforms serving Amtrak (lower platforms), NJ Transit (most platforms), PATH (separate platform on the lower level), and Newark Light Rail (street-level on the south side). Track assignments post on the boards.
